Birmingham Education Question Time

NUTBirmingham NUT invite you to Education Question Time at the Birmingham Council House, Victoria Square, Birmingham on Friday 20th March, starting at 7.30pm.

NUT members feel passionately about education and will debate local and national education policy and ask questions to a panel of experts including an education campaigner and a teacher trade union leader.

Birmingham’s library service supports education in many ways, including events with schools, and providing books and study facilities to children and young people. The service is facing huge cutbacks in the coming financial year. The Friends of the Library of Birmingham are supporting this event.

NUTSpeakers

Professor Tim Brighouse: Tim is an inspirational and committed education campaigner who has held a number of high profile positions in education including Commissioner for London Schools and Chief Education Officer at Birmingham City Council.
Kevin Courtney: Kevin is the Deputy General Secretary of the NUT and has been an advocate of teachers for over 20 years.
Ann Gallagher: Ann is a member of the Friends of the Library of Birmingham Campaign Group.

Adrian Blackledge: Adrian is the Birmingham Poet Laureate and a Professor in the School of Education at the University of Birmingham.
Cllr Brigid Jones: Brigid is a Birmingham City Councillor and Cabinet Member for Children and Family services
Robert Brenchley: Robert is the Left Unity candidate in the Ladywood council elections.

The event will be chaired by Hilary Bills, past President of the NUT.
